The large wooden doors of the Museum of Modern Literature – shortened to LiMo  - invite you to enter the world of modern literature. The museum displays and houses 20th century literature. There are notable original manuscripts including The Trial by Franz Kafka. Visitors have the opportunity to use an interactive audio-guide to explore the biographical and historical backgrounds to a variety of fascinating exhibits, ranging from manuscripts to private letters and the authors´ personal belongings.
The building standing on a rock plateau in Marbach’s scenic Schiller park overlooks the valley of the Neckar River and has become a favourite place to watch the sun set.  The building won the prestigious Stirling Prize in 2007. It opened in September 2006 and was designed by the British architect David Chipperfield and constructed at a cost of £7 million.
